Central Illinois Rib Report: BC BBQ!

(PEKIN, Ill.) — It was a rainy & dreary day, which called for some good ole barbecue.

Tonight’s Rib Report took me to Pekin, Illinois to check out BC BBQ on 14th Street.

I like the outside vibe of the place. Feels like an old gas station meets a saloon.

The service was very friendly, and the food got to my table very quickly! Both huge wins in my book. Well let’s talk about the food, shall we?

Every Rib Report I do, I always try something either the server or owner recommends. Tonight, it was the Hog Wing. Seen above, is a delicious and meaty piece of pork that falls right off the bone.

Because there was so much meat on the Hog Wing, I was able to try every sauce at BC’s on that alone! My favorites? The House Spicy & the LovinGood Spicy.

Lovingoods barbecue sauces are one of my favorites made right here in the area. You can find their Facebook page here.

For my meal, I got a 1/3 rack of ribs with a side of green beans and mac n cheese. The Southern Green Beans were delicious. Plenty of flavor and plenty of bacon! The mac was very cheesy and I enjoyed it as well.

The rib meat fell right off the bone and was great mixed in with the spicy sauces. I thought it was a good amount of meat and was cooked very well.

Thanks to BC BBQ for showing me some good hospitality tonight. I really enjoyed my time!

  1. Great post
Great blog post! BC BBQ sounds like a great spot, and the Hog Wing looks amazing. I’m curious, was there a particular sauce that stood out to you as the best pairing with the ribs?

  3. You mentioned the rib meat fell off the bone, were they overcooked? True KCBS style BBQ ribs are supposed to have some firmness to them and you should be able to leave a nice bite mark leaving the rest of the meat on the bone. It seems like it is very hard to find any ribs in the area that aren’t over cooked.
