I am not a politician from Texas

(ILLINOIS) — Over the past few months, my email and “Contact Us” inbox has been filled with constituents from Texas, reaching out about Senate Bill 840.

The bill was signed by Texas Governor Greg Abbott (R) and goes into effect on September 1, 2025. The Texas Legislature online reads, “Relating to certain municipal regulation of certain mixed-use and multifamily residential development projects and conversion of certain commercial buildings to mixed-use and multifamily residential occupancy.”

If you want to read more about the bill, you can find the website here.

That’s all I’ll get into about the bill, because… I have nothing to do with it! There is a “Matt Shaheen” who is the Republican State Rep. for District 66 in Texas (notice the spelling?).

For anyone new here, that’s not me!

Thank you for your attention to this matter!

If you’re wondering “what photo is the featured image of this article?” It was one I took in June of 2014. My dad and I were fishing off an abandoned dock in Corpus Christi, TX. We also went deep-sea fishing that trip, where I got unbelievably motion sick. I blame it on the Sonic breakfast we had before. Anyways, enjoy your day!
